milestones I need to write down!

She can now pivot on her tummy and roll from back to tummy.

June 29th - 6 month check up.  27 inches, 20 lbs (9 month old size).
June 30th - said "baba" (baby?)
July 14th - clearly said "mama"
July 21st - I put her on her playmat (on her back) and when I came back into the room I noticed she had rolled onto her tummy and scooted backwards!

July 21st - took a step (assisted) to reach the tv remote

it was okay.  By "okay" I mean not incredibly boring but not totally fun.  I loved sleeping in a nice king sized bed though.  We are "co-sleeping" which mean more sleep for us, but less room.  Soraya is a big baby.  I really wish she would sleep in a crib sometimes, but it's just much easier this way.  Still, I can't WAIT for her to go 8 hours without eating at night.  She's up to 6 hours.  Soon the day will come.

So anyway, we slept well in a king sized bed, and Chris went to his race thing on Sunday.  I stayed at the hotel and used his laptop to be on the interweb and play solitaire, then I got bored so I went to sleep.  As soon as I attempted sleep, Soraya woke up.

Then we went to the beach in the late afternoon.  It was Soraya's first time at a beach.  I can't find the camera, but when I do I will post pictures.  We got stuck in the sand trying to leave the beach, and sand got all over, in, and around my beautiful car.  Thankfully there were some people willing to help and we got out of the sand and back on the part of the beach that is ok to drive on in a compact car.

For some reason, after this, Chris decided to drive to Galveston.  Now don't get me wrong, I love Galveston, but the beach is kind of dreary and ugly looking.  At least whenever I go (which has been twice).  I think it would be fun to explore downtown Galveston, but it was late.  So we went to a restaurant called "Casey's" which was really Gaido's, or part of Gaido's, which was down the street.  It was still Casey's, but everyone in there was wearing a Gaido's nametag.  Talk about confusing!  I ordered the Fish Fajita Salad which was SPECTACULAR and very large.  Just in case I didn't get enough to eat, they were kind enough to put rice under the taco shell, which was already overflowing with salad.  The fish was great!  They really know how to cook fish.  Which is good, because it's a seafood restaurant right by the ocean on Seawall Blvd.  Chris told me how he likes the ocean at night, because you can hear it but you can't see it.  I never really thought of that.  It is kind of cool.

Monday we check out at 11am and headed back home.  On the way, we stopped at the Galleria in Houston, and the Downtown Aquarium.  The aquarium was cool, and I love aquariums, but it wasn't as big and spectacular as they make it out to be in the brochure.

http://www.aquariumrestaurants.com/downtownaquariumhouston/flash_content/map.html

We joked about being upset if the aquarium was just one tiger, and the tiger was eating the fish.

Close...there was just one tiger...

What's a tiger doing at an aquarium anyway?

Oh and the shark exhibit...it was supposed to be this really cool exhibit and you go in this tunnel and see all sorts of shark.  It was so cool that you had to get on a train to get in the tunnel.

The tunnel was just a tunnel with a bunch of shark swimming around, and after that the train ride was over (but not before they got all universal studios on us and splashed some water on the train).

I shall finish later...if I remember...my baby woke up and I have to get ready to go to work and clean up this mess of a house...

Subject:continue solids?
Time:01:55 pm

The next day Soraya wouldn't stop pooping, and her spit up was sort of yellow.  I think maybe she didn't digest it all, and what she did digest irritated her.  Which is weird, because banana is supposed to be easily digested and that is the reason I chose it.  I also chose to wait to six months...well 5.75 months...but still I waited quite awhile and fed her very little.  I will wait a week and then introduce solids again.  This time, either rice cereal (bland, ew) or Gerber's banana baby food.  Gerber probably has more experience than I do in picking out a banana and making it not so irritable, maybe by removing the seeds or those stupid skin remnants that are stringy.

Subject:milestone - starting solids
Time:11:14 am
Yesterday we fed Soraya banana mixed with breastmilk.  She looked very confused.  She just tasted it and let it come out of her mouth and just sit on her lip.  She had a few little bites, and I think she swallowed at least a little bit because a few hours later she passed what looked like banana seeds (of course I didn't do a close inspection, so I could be wrong).  I decided to start solids one week shy of six months so Chris could be there - next week he will be busy in Houston and I will probably just be hanging out at the hotel with Soraya (I'd rather not go to a race all day and I'm sure Soraya agrees).  I'm still undecided on if I should wait a week to feed her again, or start feeding her every day this week.

You Are A Thug

User Submitted Image

You're the ruthless type. Ff someone gets on your nerves, you aren't afraid to lay them down! School means nothing to you as long as you're street smart.

Whatever!  Just because I didn't do my homework or care about school doesn't make me a thug!

MILESTONE

On Monday, Soraya sat up unassisted!

We were at MIL's house and I sat her up, let go for a while and she didn't need me to hold her...she was still sitting up!  She was even waving her hand around and she kept herself up.  It's so amazing to see this little person go from totally helpless and just laying there to sitting up and smiling!!  I am so proud of her because she always tries to sit up.  She wants to be active and she's always smiling.  She's such a good baby!

She's also scooting now!  She puts her head down and uses all her energy to push with her legs, but she keeps her head down and it looks really bad...like she's going to get carpet burn on her face!

so I could write down some milestones.  It was going to be private, but why would this be private?  I don't know.
Her baby book doesn't list all these milestones, and I want a separate list anyway.

December 26th - looked for me when she heard my voice!  This was the moment I truly bonded with my daughter.  I have recovered well, too.
February 15, 2007 - smiled at Daddy
February 16, 2007 - smiled at me!!
March 24, 2007 - first tears (significant because that means her tear ducts have fully formed!)
Easter - holds on to objects more
Saturday after Easter - reached out to touch something (my glass of juice) while I was feeding her and watching COPS!
May (four months) - still only uses her right hand!
May (four months) - if I hold her hands and say "get up" she goes from laying down to sitting up with some help.  She has good control of her head.
Mid-May - went to only using her left hand, and a few days later she now uses both hands.
June 3rd - rolled tummy to back.
June 7th - laughing during peek-a-boo.  She used to just look bored.

She's trying to crawl, but her fat little legs won't go under her belly.

This girl has thunder thighs!

Good thing she's only five months old.  I'm sure she'll lose the weight when she starts crawling.

Subject:Hi!!!!!!

There's too much to write about. I couldn't possibly update you on everything. I will try.

- DH and I are together and closer than ever. I wish I could explain it...it's weird...it's like um...it's like when you melt cheese on a piece of toast. That is how close we are. Before we moved back to the CITY we were like...um....ice on a flame. So it's a big difference now.  Basically I told him if I was going to be unhappy I'll be unhappy by myself.  He stopped being self-absorbed and I stopped dreaming about being alone and allowed him back into my life...and since then I have never looked back.  I did miss out on my trip to Arizona, but he says we will go (he doesn't understand I'd rather go alone, but I love him so much I don't mind him with me.  Of course I will bring our daughter too.)

- We have a house in my hometown and we are 2 minutes from anything we could ever want.  There is even a Super Target 5 miles from my house (I LOVE SUPER TARGET...I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS).  However, my ex-boyfriend works there and while it is ok for my husband to talk to his ex, it's not right for me to talk to mine.  Go figure.  I really don't care though, because my ex-boyfriend is a dick, and an asshole.  When I told him that he said "well, that's a bit of my father coming out in me."  I don't care if your dad was a druggie, and an asshole, you are responsible for your own actions.  He clearly is not.  That's another story and another entry, quite possibly a friends-only.  Needless to say, I haven't been back to that Super Target because I don't want to talk to him anyway.  He'll just try and get me back, despite the fact that I have a baby and I'm happy.  Six months after we broke up he was still trying to get me back so I have had to ignore him since.

- I had a baby.  Yes, my baby survived my womb.  I will post my birth story here.  It's quite interesting.  Most likely, birth is the most amazing experience of anyone's life.  It's so traumatic, but so joyous at the same time.  I am happy with my birth experience and SO glad we went home to same day.  It was Christmas Eve and I spent a few days on bedrest but that beats the heck out of being in a hospital bed for three days.

- My whole life revolves around my beautiful, sweet, happy, healthy baby S.  Her name means "princess" and that she is.

- Liberty is now three years old.  We got a puppy for her because she has to be an outside dog now that we have a little baby.  When S gets older, this winter, the dogs will probably sleep inside.  The puppy has now grown.  She's only 9 months old, but she's HUGE.

- Chris has a new job and it's a sales job...so he is getting commission.  He is quite good at it too.  Before long we will be debt free.  No credit cards, but we owe a little money here and there.

uuuummmm I'll have to update more later; my little baby is going to wake up soon.  I hope so because I am going to the BIG outlet mall today.

I had a dream that Chris and I were working on a secret project for the government, and were waiting for documents to arrive via FedEx. We each got our documents in those long tan envelops with the little brads on the back, but I woke up before we opened them.

Subject:Out of the danger zone
Time:08:03 pm
I posted a myspace bulletin, but I forgot to update here.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant.

That means my chance of miscarriage is so low now that I am out of my first trimester, that it's really nothing to worry about.

I'm excited that I don't have to give birth in a hospital either. I am going to a birthing center, I won't have an iv (unless I need it), I'm 2 min from a hospital if I need it, and I go home with the baby SAME DAY (if we don't get transferred to the hospital). Sweeeeet! I took a tour and they have it all together, they have stuff to help the baby breathe if necessary, and with it being close to the hospital I can go if I need to (I am pre-registered).

Also my chance of getting a c-section has gone down from 40% to 5%, and that's just from not having it in a hospital.

C-Sections in hospitals are getting ridiculous and so is the rate of infection.

I finally have a PAID job! I am going to be going to Houston to shoot for a calendar. The photographer does several different calendars and may use me for up to FOUR projects! Yippeee! So excited...I hope it works out and I don't look stupid. I'll keep you updated.

I was also in a music video recently but that hasn't been finished yet so I have no idea how that turned out.

Subject:Had a great dream.
Time:12:47 pm
I had a really good dream last night. Actually, it was kind of weird but it was good because it made a great story. It had something to do with a love story between two family members. I decided to write it down but take out the whole family members in love part and make it not so incestuous. I am laying there half asleep in agreement with myself that it is a great story, but I lack the ambition to actually get up and write it down. Therefore, I wake up thirty minutes later totally forgetting about the whole dream until this very minute. I don't think running through it over and over while falling back asleep helps at all. However I also don't think I would have been able to write it down.

What a bummer.

Phone: Ring...

Me: Hello?

Silence.

I almost hang up. Then, I hear someone come on the line.

Person: Mr. [our last name]?

Me in an annoyed tone: NO, I AM A WOMAN!

Person in a sarcastic "I'm not really sorry" tone: I'm sorry, I didn't hear you pick up!

Me: Is that because your computer had not connected us yet?

Silence.

I was filling out some paperwork for a company that does promotional work, and they want me to agree to not work for any company that is their competition for 24 months without their written consent.

Haha, yeah, right!

Subject:So far this week I haven't had to ride in a single elevator.
Time:07:58 pm
Now that I no longer need to go up 8 floors in an elevator every working day it's nice to reflect back on the many wonderful ways people in elevators have enriched my life. For example, all the stupid attempts at small talk I've heard in an elevator. If you don't have anything smart to say, don't even try to talk to me (unless we aren't in an elevator). If you do have something smart to say, you may speak but it better be good and quick. Eight floors is only about ten seconds. Don't expect me to respond. Oh, the good days...when I could laugh at people after the doors close because of what they said and breathe because they're no longer in my personal space.

I used to hate it when they would stand within two feet of me. Look buddy, this elevator must be at least five by five...you think you could scoot over a little? You smell like too much cologne.

Did you know that men spray on more of their fragrance than women? This is because women have a more sensitive sense of smell.

I'm also sensitive to "it's only [insert number of days here] until Friday" comments. That's not a smart comment. It's very obvious. Besides that, I just don't care. It could be any day of the week, but a standard work week is still five days long. I still have to experience all five regardless of how far along I have progressed. The most depressing fact is, once I have completed all five workdays, I have to do them all over again after just two more days.

Just a few of the many things I don't miss about riding in an elevator every day.

Subject:One more thing.
Time:06:55 pm
This is really important.

I need to chose a male name that sounds really, really gay. A name you would look at and say "Wow. I can tell this person is a homosexual." I know the one I want to use, but I'll let you guys vote first before I reveal my decision. If you change my mind, then I will pretend like that the one I was going to pick the whole time anyway.

The choices:

1. Felton
2. Jackson
3. Anton (haha kidding! Ignore this one. Anton, you did kind of bring it upon yourself with all the talk of homo-gay stuff)
4. Lance
5. Ace
6. Ulysses
7. Richard (the full name, not Rich or Dick)
8. Skylar or...
9. just Sky

Please suggest any names I didn't include that you feel have a strong gay connotation.
